Raleigh, the capital city of the U.S. state of North Carolina is known as the City of Oaks; for its many oak trees, which line the streets in the heart of the city. It is the second-most populous city in North Carolina, after Charlotte. Raleigh is the tenth-most populous city in the Southeast, the 41st-most populous city in the U.S., and the largest city in the Research Triangle metro area. Raleigh is home to several educational institutions including North Carolina State University (NC State home of our Collegiate Host Chapter, Mu Omicron), and two HBCUs: Shaw University, and St. Augustine’s University. There are 6 Alumnae Chapters in the Triangle Area: Chapel-Hill Carrboro Area, Durham, Johnston County, Knightdale-Wake Forest, Raleigh (host chapter), and Western Wake. Raleigh, N.C., is an energizing destination for a full family trip. With a mix of parks, museums, sports and arts, family fun activities are always available. While visiting us, please take time to tour the city and enjoy all that the capital city has to offer.
